The Asheville Humane Society has announced that its executive director, Jody Evans, left her job effective July 9. The announcement notes Evans' accomplishments, including her leadership during the pandemic, and said it's launching a national search for her replacement. Evans was hired at the Asheville Humane Society in August 2019 after 20 years of nonprofit leadership in the world of public radio.

Second quarter 2021 real estate numbers are in for Asheville, and prices continue their heady climb. The average list price for houses sold in the city of Asheville in Q2 was $518,230, up 29.7 percent from Q2 of 2020. The average days on market for houses up for sale in the city of Asheville was 39 for Q2 of this year, compared to 41 for the same quarter last year. The median list price for city of Asheville houses sold in Q2 of this year was $400,000, up 17.7 percent from the same quarter last year.

A developer is looking into building 196 residential units spread across 6 buildings at 235 Sardis Road on the western side of Buncombe County, according to construction permits
Linamar, the vehicle parts manufacturer in Arden, plans to build a 72,000-square-foot addition to its plant on Hendersonville Road, according to city construction permits.
